OOAK, or in this case, OAK!

OOAK is the abbreviation for One of a Kind, OAK is, well, oak!
We have 17 white oak trees on our little acre, and many other types of trees, most natural, some purchased and planted by yours truly and husband. Suffice to say, I am fond of trees!
I tend to create in themed cycles (or binges, if you prefer), and lately, I've focused on a tree theme, and a drift away from bright colors (temporary, I assure you). Photos below are the latest listings in my shop celebrating trees and neutral tones. Did I mention I love acorns? My husband detests them, as he is in charge of yard maintenance. Did I mention we have 17 oak trees?
And, finally, a return to color, but still in theme. Clicking on the jewelry photos will take you to their listings in my Etsy shop, Catnip Studio.

All Tied Up

Quirky, charming, fun, feminine, elegant, unique - these are words to describe the jewelry creations to be found in one of my favorite Etsy shops, Tied Up Memories.
I just love her style of necklace collage! She incorporates lovely silk flowers, vintage bits and pieces, cut and fitted papers, brass filigree, buttons, and luscious light-catching beadery combined with stylish chains. I own the necklace in the bottom left photo, bottom center and right are two more of my favorites. Clicking on any of the photos will take you to those or similar listings in her shop!

Prettier in Pink

My first customer request for a change of bead color, and I prefer the second edition, prettier in pink! I created this broken china brass filigree necklace with St. Patrick's Day and green clover in mind. The buyer wanted to gift it to her mother, and her mother loves the color pink, and therein lies the tale. And my inspiration for the mini collage jewelry gift box. Hope Mom thinks her necklace is prettier in pink, too!

Boxy Brown

I just love it when a piece of jewelry sells from my shop, Catnip Studio, because each jewelry sale results in a mad dash to my studio to create a matching jewelry box decorated with papers, ribbon, and other coordinating elements. Why the mad dash? Two reasons: I really enjoy the process of selecting and assembling the pieces of my mini box collages, and I want it to be ready to mail same or next day! I really should make up some of these jewelry boxes ahead of time, but that would just suck the frantic joy right out of it! Pictures show my collaged boxes with their recently sold jewelry partners. They are fairly simple and crafty, but decent enough to gift or keep, don't you think?

Lizzie's Been Bizzie!

I love to embroider decorator fabrics, especially the paisleys and florals. I've been listing them in my Etsy shop, Catnip Studio, as a fabric supply, perfect for sewing up a pillow. BizzieLizzie, a fellow Etsian, purchased one of my embroidered panels (from Etsy's front page!), and we even shared a small trade. I received a lovely zippered bag, shown above left, and she, more fabric panels! Well, Lizzie got busy, made a beautiful gift purse for a relative out of one of the embroidered panels, and sent me photos of what she had created, shown below. Isn't it just dreamy?

Tagging Along

I've received many compliments on my packaging of buyer purchases, and I often use the handmade cards and tags from my fellow Etsy sellers, also members of the Etsy Cottage Style Street Team. One such seller, Mrs. Kwitty's Cottage, has such adorable tags that I have become an unofficial "collector" of sorts! I always give credit to the artist in my mailings, and a recent buyer of my embroidered fabric panels wrote to thank me for including the name/shop of the tag artist. Photos show examples of how I used Mrs. Kwitty's tags to embellish my fabrics.

Catnip Studio's First Blog Post

I posted my first fully fledged blog entry today, and not even on my own blog page! As a new member of Etsy's United Filigree Artisan's Guild, I introduced myself via a synopsis of how I came to creating brass filigree broken china jewelry, with photos of my latest work.
